Rally is a score keeper for racket and net sports, made by Fenger Digital GmbH in Germany. It is built local first: your matches live on your devices, not on our servers. That makes this policy short, and we intend to keep it that way.
The short version
- Your match history stays on your device. We cannot see it and we do not want to.
- Live sharing is short-lived. While you share a match, our server holds only a join code, the current score and the players' names if you set them. When the match ends with a score, the finished match stays for 24 hours so the people who played in it can save it to their own history, then it is deleted. Stop sharing or discard the match and it is deleted at once.
- Health data never leaves your device. Heart rate and calories stay on your watch and phone.
- Purchases run through Apple and RevenueCat under a random identifier, without your name or email.
- No ads, no tracking, no data sales. Rally contains no advertising or tracking SDKs.
Who is responsible
The controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Fenger Digital GmbH, Germany. For anything in this policy, write to rally@softailed.com. You will get an answer from a person.
Match history: on your device only
Scores, sports, rule settings, match duration and the players you add (the names you type, kept in the app's own player list) are stored only in the app on your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Nothing is uploaded to us, except while you share a match (below). Your history is included in your normal iOS device backup, which runs under your Apple account on Apple's infrastructure, not ours. Deleting the app deletes the history on that device, and Settings > Reset app in Rally deletes it in place when you turn on "Also delete match history" and tap Reset app.
Live sharing: one row, gone within a day
When you actively share a match, our server (Supabase, hosted in the EU, region Frankfurt) stores exactly one row for that match: the 6-digit join code, the sport and the current score snapshot, meaning points, games, sets and who serves; and the names of the players if you have set them, so followers see who is playing instead of Team A and Team B. No account and no match history are uploaded.
The device that keeps the score sends it: your Apple Watch over its own connection (through your iPhone when the phone is near, otherwise over Wi-Fi or cellular), or your iPhone or iPad when you score there. While the watch keeps the score and your iPhone is near, the iPhone sends it too, as a backup. Both update the same row, and nothing else is sent.
When the match ends with a score, the row is kept for 24 more hours and your phone adds the finished match to it once: the rules, the point-by-point record, the players' names and when the match started and ended. It is there so that followers who played in the match can save it, with its statistics, to their own history on their own device, if they choose to. 24 hours after the end the row, including that record, is deleted.
In every other case the row is deleted at once: when you stop sharing or discard the match. A row whose score has not changed for two hours is deleted, and a live row never outlives 24 hours after it was created. The next match you share gets a new code and a new row.
People who follow your match need no account. We do not record who watched. A follower's phone fetches the finished match only when that person chooses to save it, and stores it on their device only. Legal basis: performance of the sharing feature you actively start (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Abuse protection: hashed, transient
To keep the free sharing service available, its endpoints are rate limited per IP address: the address of the device that sends the request (an iPhone or iPad, an Apple Watch, or a browser showing the live scoreboard). The IP address is hashed (SHA-256) before it is stored, so raw IP addresses never reach our database, and the counters are deleted automatically within about an hour. Our hosting provider additionally processes connection data such as IP addresses for the technical delivery of the service, as every host does. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a stable and abuse-free service (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Health data: never leaves the device
With your permission, Rally records your match as a workout through Apple HealthKit so it counts toward your Activity rings, and shows your heart rate and calories during play. These numbers stay on your watch and phone. They are never uploaded to our servers and never part of a live share. You manage and delete them in Apple Health. We never use HealthKit data for marketing and never disclose it to third parties. If you decline Health access, scoring works normally.
Purchases: Apple pays, RevenueCat counts
Rally Pro is bought through your Apple App Store account. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. To validate purchases and unlock Pro across your devices we use RevenueCat, Inc. (USA). RevenueCat receives your purchase history for Rally and a random identifier generated in the app, not your name, email or Apple ID. Transfers to RevenueCat are safeguarded by EU standard contractual clauses. Legal basis: performance of the purchase contract (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
What we do not do
Rally shows no ads, contains no advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs, and sells no data. There are no user accounts at launch, so there is no profile of you anywhere on our side.
Your rights, and how deletion works here
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability and the right to object (art. 15 to 21 GDPR). You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority.
In practice, because Rally is local first, you hold the delete key yourself: Settings > Reset app with "Also delete match history" turned on, or deleting the app, removes your history, a shared match deletes itself when you stop sharing, 24 hours after it ended or when it expires, and the hashed rate-limit counters are gone on their own within about an hour. Your match history never reaches us; it moves with your iOS device backup, not through us. For the one thing that lives elsewhere, the purchase record at RevenueCat, email us and we will have it deleted.
Changes
If Rally ever changes what it processes, for example if optional accounts arrive with a future feature, this policy will be updated before that feature ships and the date above will change.
Datenschutzerklärung für Rally
Stand: 1. Oktober 2026
- Keine Werbung, kein Tracking, kein Datenverkauf.
Verantwortlicher
Wer Ihr Match mitverfolgt, braucht kein Konto.
Rechtsgrundlage: Vertragserfüllung (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO).
